One a beautiful day family got together to celebrate Mr. L’s first birthday!
Little Man, there is only one of you and you are a precious gift. Your quiet joy and delighted giggles bring joy. Your determined curiosity is fun to watch.
You are a treasure in an earthen vessel and it is a privilege to watch you grow and learn and explore. The mighty things you do in life may seem small, but you have a God Who Sees You and is greater than anything which will come against you. Be assured, things will come against you; that is the nature of the fallen world we live in. But you have family and a Mighty God here to help you, protect you, comfort you, and always love you no matter what.
You will never be alone, even on your darkest day. Jesus will always be with you.
Never forget that, ‘k?
Love you bunches and bunches, Little Man!
Tomorrow is Little Man’s first birthday. On Saturday we had a big, fun party for him! It was a gorgeous day for the party.
Little Man was born a couple weeks ago and he already has quite a personality. He’s a little cuddler and enjoys being wrapped up and warm. He also likes to stay awake for pictures. It will be SO FUN to watch him grow up!
Full of spunk and super sweet, J4 is fast crawling and soon will be walking. Somehow I found myself with just J4 for a few hours and we had fun playing before a second, unplanned nap.Peek-a-boo! Happy 1st birthday, little J!! You are loved. And happy Thanksgiving, everyone else! I pray you have a blessed time with friends and family.
I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever.
I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness.
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;
let them proclaim your power.
I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy about your righteousness.
God will increase.
We are told to tell of the mighty works of God.
You are one of those works, Joey.
You are a miracle, you know that?
God has already worked in and through your life with might and for His glory.
Circumstances may have looked grim.
They still do sometimes.
Life may have looked scary.
It still does.
But there is a spark of hope still burning, flickering.
You will learn soon enough that life is hard and you don’t always get what you want – or even sometimes all you need – but you will also learn that God is sovereign and has plan for you and even in the muck of life, He has a purpose for you and a plan for good for you.
You are a miracle.
God sees you, He loves you.
He. Created. You.
Where there could have been devastation and death there is instead life and hope and provision and love.
Your life is a monument of the hidden, sacred miracles of God moving in our lives.
So many people have prayed for you, your parents, and your brothers. We have prayed in anguish over masses and things lost. We have prayed in joy for your birth (in Minnesota no less!). We have prayed blessings and protection and God’s will over you.
When I pray for you, I hear echoes of these verses from Isaiah 61.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
Strangers will shepherd your flocks;
foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
And you will be called priests of the Lord,
you will be named ministers of our God.
You will feed on the wealth of nations,
and in their riches you will boast.
Instead of your shame
you will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace
you will rejoice in your inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,
and everlasting joy will be yours.
We marvel at all the little details God has worked out to bring you to life.
You are part of His Majestic, glorious splendor.
So. Welcome to the outside, Joey. Enjoy life. Get used to snow. Choose joy over sadness. Walk with Christ ever closely.
I love you.
The J’s Three will be joined by a new bundle of fun. A party was thrown to find out if the baby would be a boy-J or a girl-J. There were great blue and pink decorations and mustaches or lips to show if we were voting boy or girl! There was also hair paint and glow sticks in pink or blue for the kids! And the reveal was given by M&Ms from the dispenser Marcus used o propose to Katie. Baby 4 will be a …BOY!!!!
I was excited to spend a day with Oliver a little while back while Danica had a long day of shoots. We played trains inside for a little while then went outside with Onyx. Oliver loves planes and birds flying around. We threw sticks for Onyx to chase, spun the big flower in the garden, and played peek a boo with the shed door. I absolutely *love* Oliver’s surprised face! He is so full of life and joy!While Oliver took his nap, I spent some time with Danica’s succulents. Danica has the greatest planters full of the nicest, little succulents so vibrant and colorful!
Recently a challenge was posted on Lesa’s blog to bring Tori …EVERYWHERE with the hashtag #ToriTravels! That day I printed a picture and took Tori with me to Innsbruck and sat a while by the pond and found flowers for mother’s day.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
