Happy 1st Birthday, Little Man!

Little Man, there is only one of you and you are a precious gift. Your quiet joy and delighted giggles bring joy. Your determined curiosity is fun to watch.

You are a treasure in an earthen vessel and it is a privilege to watch you grow and learn and explore. The mighty things you do in life may seem small, but you have a God Who Sees You and is greater than anything which will come against you. Be assured, things will come against you; that is the nature of the fallen world we live in. But you have family and a Mighty God here to help you, protect you, comfort you, and always love you no matter what.

You will never be alone, even on your darkest day. Jesus will always be with you.

Never forget that, ‘k?

Love you bunches and bunches, Little Man!

Little Man Turns One!

Tomorrow is Little Man’s first birthday. On Saturday we had a big, fun party for him! It was a gorgeous day for the party.

Does he look impressed with his cake?
Gardening was one of the many activities at the party.
Baby E has the cutest grin!
Other Baby E was a delight to play with.
Playing with Cousin J2 was more fun than eating lunch
Cake and candle time! Of course, Little Man went for the candle – but it was windy so he didn’t feel the flame.
Little Man had more fun playing in the frosting than eating, I think. It didn’t hurt that he had just finished lunch! 😉
What’s the big fuss?! You, Little Man!
The next morning, Little Man was dedicated.

February and Birthdays

Yesterday our family gathered to celebrate three important birthdays. This week TJ is turning 2 and J3 turns 4, and (aunt/grandma) Judy turned 60 yesterday! It was a busy, loud, fun, hilarious, joyful afternoon.selah_candace_rose_birthday_1 We wanted a {nice} picture of the two birthday boys together, but either one or the other was picking his nose. Finally in exasperation, Katie said, “Fine. You both pick your nose!” To which both boys obliged (not pictured)…

Instead of a party for Judy, we all brought her flowers or a plant. By the time everyone’s plants had arrived, the kitchen smelled like a warm summer day out in the sun!selah_candace_rose_birthday_2There were plenty of gifts for the two boys, a tasty cake, and lots of fun games! J4 slept through much of the party, sleeping through all his snuggles! selah_candace_rose_birthday_3 selah_candace_rose_birthday_eat_1 J3 nicely shared his pop with TJ, and J2 was a hoot as he made faces and started building a car with grapes for wheels and pretzels for everything else.selah_candace_rose_birthday_eat_2 When it was cake time, TJ enjoyed his cake fully and J3 went after J2’s ice cream. He LOVES his ice cream!!selah_candace_rose_birthday_eat_3 There were so many fun games for the kids (and adults) to play. The party theme was Paw Patrol, and each game was paired with one of the characters.selah_candace_rose_birthday_games_1 selah_candace_rose_birthday_games_2 TJ was super enthusiastic and cheered for everyone who completed moving the cotton ball rocks from one end of the room to the other. Everyone there couldn’t help but cheer along!selah_candace_rose_birthday_games_3 In between playing games and eating, gifts were opened (J3, “YOU bought this. For ME?! It is for me?!) and played with by all.selah_candace_rose_birthday_gifts_1 selah_candace_rose_birthday_gifts_2 selah_candace_rose_birthday_love_1 And, as with every family gathering, not only is there tons of food and laughter, but tons of love. And baby snuggles. And cousin hugs while watching videos. And coordinating outfits.selah_candace_rose_birthday_love_2Happy valentine’s day!

How Time Flies

J3 is … three. How did that happen? It seems like this precocious bundle of laughs and lover of ice cream was just one. But I suppose things like this happen when a whole state separates us.

We had a day of joy, laughter, balloons, play dough, and ice cream to celebrate Jacob.

32Jacob LOVES ice cream. Near the end of eating the cake, he found the ice cream container left unattended…and finished it off! Good thing there wasn’t much left…cake5

{Cole} That Tree

Four years ago Heather and I packed Cole up in their van and headed to French Park, because there was a beach and trees. Cole wanted to crawl and Heather wanted pictures of her first one-year-old. So for Cole’s first birthday pictures, we chased him through sand and around trees and into the water. Little did we know on that day that we were creating a yearly tradition. Drive to that park, find that same tree.

cole4yrsHappy 4th birthday, Cole! It is so fun watching you grow up!

It’s Been a Year Already!?!

On your first birthday,
I’m thinking about how much light and sparkle
you freely dispense wherever you go,
how your sunny smile lights up any gathering.
Every birthday marks another year
of you radiating positive, happy energy,
contagious happiness
that infects all who come in contact with you.
May your next birthday find you the same–
glowing from within,
beaming bright joy on everyone you meet.
I feel blessed to know you.

Golden Rob

Rob’s golden birthday was this year.

A bash was had (planned by the wonderful Kristina). People came from far and wide. We surprised Rob.  Cake was eaten after tons of candles were blown out. There was drumming on bowls in the kitchen. Balloons were written on and chewed. There was a performance by Cole, future Rockstar. Good times had by all.
